Being the Blogmistresses Apprentice is a very intimidating thing. Where do I keep the whip, for one thing? ;-)

So why am I here? Why am I the Apprentice?

As many of you know Babs and I have a longstanding relationship where she creates a work of blogging art, and I swiftly break it. If it survives ten minutes without me breaking it – it’s safe to say it’s idiot proof! As Blogmistress she is very supportive and helps enable people to stand on their own blogging two feet – this is tremendous, and when you get busy she’ll take over what you can’t do any more so you don’t lose any momentum.

So how do I fit in?

All businesses need a back up and all blogs need a human back up, you simply cannot be chained to the laptop for hours on end just in case you need a comment approving… or a plugin needs upgrading. You have to live, in order to have the experience to write a blog about it. So that’s why I am here, so that Babs and Joe can have lives too.

The bonus to this is I get to learn some amazing stuff from these talented people, like setting up skype on my phone (yeah, that one eluded me, and it’s so obvious) and the drop down admin menu plugin, and these guys have only just started! Luckily for me they are nothing like Alan Sugar and Karren Brady, they they are patient teachers and I am a willing student :-)

I am thrilled to be on the team – I am learning something in a different area to my skillset – my background is Recruitment and HR and for the last 5 years I have been working in a small business, experiencing all the internet marketing and blog woes a small business has – Yay, I can contribute something after all beyond approving the comments ;-)

So for me being the Apprentice is a great thing, I get to talk about all the things I have learned and hopefully in a way you will understand too. To think 2 years ago I didn’t know the difference between blogger/blogspot and WordPress :-) and now I have more blogs than I can shake a stick at! The blogmistress makes it easy to learn and understand, I now have a the ability to understand geek speak even if I don’t speak it fluently!

Doing something different to your usual stuff gives you a different outlook on things.

Thats it Babs, keep her occupied

@Kevin, Nice try, Kev – we both know that Sarah is a force of nature that will never be harnessed. We can only try to keep hold of her coat tails…;-)
