How to create a slick, sortable and searchable table in WordPress
Here’s a question we received on our blogmistress facebook page and I hope the solution I found helps:
I want to list details of fitness classes on a page. Rather than have static data on a page, it would be good if I could use the power of a database table so when the list gets large I can order the data easily and have a search facility etc. Are you aware of any plugin to do this? I’ve searched the forums, and there’s a similar question here: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/274046?replies=2
but no answer. I would have thought this would be a common request – to display lists of things.
Have you come across anything that could help with this? Many thanks in advance for any advice…
I think WP Table Reloaded is just the plugin to do the job. Once installed go to the tools menu to create, edit, import or export your table. When creating a new table just tell it the number of columns and rows (don’t worry too much you can always add or remove later) then pop your data in.
There are plenty of options to tinker with your table and manipulate your data from the dashboard and once you’re happy put a shortcode (which you are given for that particular table) into a post or page.
For the reader this table is great, easy to sort using the header fields, I love the search option and also number of entries to display, it looks really good.
I’ve made an example here (blogmistress test site) so you can go and have a play if you like!

Yay! I *knew* there had to be a plugin to do this. This looks just the ticket – many thanks for finding it. I’ll test it out and let you know what I think.
