Now there’s a catchy, sexy title… I can hear the experts groaning! Still – you know what it’s about so let’s just get to it 😉 This is a quick blog post on using fullscreen mode when you are creating or editing a blog post or page in WordPress. Many people like to type their blog posts and/or pages within Word or some other word processor. This is absolutely fine, of course, however it is easy to forget to use the “Paste from Word” button…
and so end up with formatting code that Microsoft kindly include when copy and pasting – sometimes it can get ugly and be a pain in the bottom to work through and strip out the code from the HTML view. Can you tell that I’ve done this a few times? Now if it’s the larger area for typing that you like, the feel of a word processor, WordPress actually has this available for us with the Fullscreen mode. All you do is click on the “Toggle fullscreen mode” button at the top of your content area
and lo, your whole screen is made available for your writing with all your formatting buttons still available, plus a few extra so that you can add images, videos, etc without having to toggle back. When you’re ready, simply click the button again and you return to the more usual WordPress screen ready for you to add your categories, tags, etc and publish. Have a go and see if it works for you. And here’s a quick screencast showing the above:
