Some of you have wonderfully busy websites and blogs that can result in Count per Day struggling to keep up. One such popular client had this, being unable to view her Count per Day visitor stats. There is a not-very-obvious bundle of settings that can tidy things up, clear up the old data, and generally tend to housekeeping though it needs you to go and wield the broom, so to speak.
Within your Dashboard, go into Settings, Count per Day. On the Tools tab you need to then scroll past the Mass Bots to the tools below, and this may take some scrolling, but keep going…
First, “Backup the database”, for just in case.
Then “Clean the database” which may be sufficient for you to be able to view your stats again, but if now, then look at the other options. How many days’ worth of search strings to you actually want to store, for instance, or “Delete clients and referrers older than xx days” – think about just what information is useful for you and let go of the rest. Your WordPress will be glad of that.
And this is a good time to remember how the developer, Tom Braider, likes to be thanked for this useful, free plugin. Just send him a postcard!
